The Rapid
Modernizing Existing Infrastructure
Grand Valley Automation provided HVAC controls for the renovation of The Rapid’s 300 Ellsworth facility. This project modernized the building’s environmental controls and existing HVAC infrastructure to provide improved temperature and humidity management. Renovating an existing facility required GVA to carefully adapt older mechanical infrastructure to meet the building’s updated operational needs. Existing dampers were located within old building chases, refurbished, and rewired, while existing air handling units were converted from gas-fired to hot-water heating and from multizone to VAV operation. GVA also reconfigured the existing snowmelt boiler system to serve the building’s new hot-water heating loop. The completed controls renovation brought these existing and updated systems together into a modern HVAC control platform designed to improve comfort, functionality, and facility management.
