We use the information collected solely for the following purposes:
- To send automated alarm and operational alert notifications related to building systems managed by GVA

We do not use your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in information for marketing, advertising, or promotional purposes.
4. SMS Opt-In Data — No Sharing or Sale
SMS opt-in data and phone numbers collected for the purpose of alarm notification delivery will not be shared with, sold to, or used by any third party for marketing purposes.
Phone numbers may be shared with our SMS platform provider solely for the technical purpose of delivering alarm notifications on our behalf. Our platform provider is contractually prohibited from using this data for any other purpose.
5. How to Opt Out
You may opt out of receiving SMS alarm notifications at any time by replying STOP to any notification message. After opting out:
- You will receive one final confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out request
- No further alarm notifications will be sent to your number
- To resume receiving notifications, reply START to our notification number
You may also contact us directly at sms-optout@gvainc.com to request removal from our notification list.
6. Data Retention
We retain phone numbers and consent records for as long as the notification relationship is active, plus 5 years following the end of that relationship, for compliance recordkeeping and dispute-defense purposes. Opted-out numbers are retained on our suppression list to ensure opt-out preferences are honored permanently.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the personal information collected through our SMS notification program. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Security Incident and Breach Notification
If GVA discovers a security incident resulting in the unauthorized access to or acquisition of unencrypted personal information collected through this SMS notification program, GVA will investigate the incident and provide notification to affected individuals, and to any applicable regulators or consumer reporting agencies, to the extent required by applicable state data breach notification laws.
9. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
In addition to the opt-out rights described in Section 5, you may contact GVA using the information in Section 13 (Contact Us) to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information GVA maintains about you in connection with this SMS notification program, subject to GVA’s legitimate business, contractual, and legal recordkeeping needs, including its need to maintain suppression records to honor opt-out requests.
10. Relationship to Terms & Conditions; Limitation of Liability
This Privacy Policy is part of, and should be read together with, GVA’s SMS Notification Service Terms & Conditions, including the disclaimers, assumption of risk, and limitation of liability provisions set forth therein. Nothing in this Privacy Policy creates any warranty, guarantee, or liability beyond what is expressly stated in the Terms & Conditions.
11. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, consistent with the governing law provision in GVA’s Terms & Conditions.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted at www.gvainc.com/SMS. Continued participation in our SMS notification program following a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
